To assemble a high-efficiency volunteer team for the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG), the National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong) (NGCO) appointed the Agency for Volunteer Service and the Hong Kong Volunteers Association as the assisting organisations for the Volunteer Programme.
The programme received an overwhelming response, attracting over 30,000 members of the public applied to volunteer. Driven by their passion for sports and a spirit of dedication, they enthusiastically signed up to serve, fully demonstrating the unity and vitality of society and giving a strong boost to the Games.
Throughout their service, every volunteer demonstrated professionalism and provided cordial assistance to all attendees at various posts at the competition venues, ensuring they experienced meticulous and considerate arrangements.
The wholehearted dedication of the volunteers in the Hong Kong Competition Region is not only an important pillar for seamless competition event operation, but also exemplified the public’s active participation and devotion in a national mega event, forming the most solid backbone behind the scenes.
Although the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG have drawn to a successful close, the story of the National Games volunteers continues.
To commend their selfless dedication and outstanding contribution during the Games, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau will hold the Recognition Ceremony for the Volunteers for the Hong Kong Competition Region of the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG tomorrow at the Hong Kong Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O, to express the most sincere gratitude and highest respect to every hard-working volunteer.
A series of performances and appreciation segments will allow everyone to reunite and relive the unforgettable moments of participating in the National Games, extending the warmth and camaraderie.
