Hong Kong's men's and women's 4x100m medley relay teams have both secured their place in tonight's final at the 15th National Games.
At the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center, the Hong Kong men’s representatives George Chan Tsz-chiu, Adam Mak Sai-ting, Ralph Koo Yat-ho and Lau Ping-chi clocked 3 minutes and 43.38 seconds in their morning heat.
The men's squad revealed that their lineup was finalized by their coach just the night before, based on their conditions.
Adopting a relaxed yet determined approach, the swimmers expressed surprise at their qualification and pledged to give their all in the final showdown.
"Since it will be the last race, we will give 1000 percent to deliver our best and live up to the atmosphere tonight," Chan said.
Regarding pressure to claim another medal for the city, bronze medalist Mak noted that the team felt no undue stress, adding, "We will try to enjoy the competition and give our best."
Meanwhile, the women's team of Cindy Cheung Sum-yuet, Eunis Man Wui-kiu, Kassy Yeung Hoi-ching, and Li Sum-yiu recorded a time of 4 minutes and 7 seconds, finishing seventh overall and claiming a coveted lane in the evening's final.
