A dual-plate white minivan careened off course in Wan Chai on Friday afternoon, slamming into parked vehicles, scattering motorcycles, and crashing into a ground-floor car showroom before halting—leaving a driver in his 50s injured but conscious as paramedics rushed him to the hospital.
The chaos erupted around 4pm today on Jaffe Road between Stewart Road and Tonnochy Road.
Dashcam footage captured the van turning from Stewart Road, then veering wildly, first sideswiping a black parked minivan on the right before lurching left onto the pavement.
It plowed through several motorcycles lined along the curb, uprooting a traffic sign, before ramming the glass wall of a luxury car dealership.
Debris littered the sidewalk—a crumpled bumper, shattered wall panels, and toppled bikes—drawing a crowd of onlookers as police cordoned the scene for evidence.
Fortunately, no pedestrians were struck.
The driver, still responsive despite apparent seizures, was stretchered away for treatment.
Preliminary counts show two private cars and seven motorcycles damaged.
Investigators are probing the cause, with early whispers suggesting a possible medical episode behind the wheel.
