The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed global talent to Hong Kong, as the city surged to a record-high fourth place globally and first in Asia in the International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) World Talent Ranking.
During a press conference on Thursday (Sep 11), the Ministry’s spokesperson Lin Jian highlighted Hong Kong’s growing appeal as a hub for multinational companies and international talent.
“Hong Kong’s status as an international financial, trading, and shipping hub has been further consolidated,” Lin said, crediting the city’s improved business environment and advancements in scientific and technological innovation.
As of August 2025, over 230,000 individuals have relocated to Hong Kong through various talent admission schemes. The city has also seen a record number of local and non-local companies registered.
“The gathering of talent from diverse fields will drive Hong Kong’s bright future,” Lin added, extending an invitation to professionals worldwide to pursue their goals in the city.
The Hong Kong government also noted that the ranking serves as clear evidence that its policies and measures in education, innovation and technology (I&T), and talent admission have found the right direction and are obtaining results.
