The government has announced the 2025 Honours List and appointments of Justices of the Peace, with the Chief Executive presenting a total of 427 honours and awards. Among them, 20 individuals were awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star, including Sing Tao News Corporation Chairman Karson Choi Kar-tsan.
The government commended Choi for his extensive philanthropic efforts, long-term support for charitable initiatives across various fields, including poverty alleviation, elderly services, and volunteer work, contributing to social stability and harmony in Hong Kong. He serves as a member of multiple advisory and statutory bodies, providing valuable insights on public administration. Additionally, he is dedicated to promoting youth development and strengthening young people’s national identity, demonstrating wholehearted commitment to public service and making significant contributions.
Beyond running a news media group, Choi holds multiple leadership roles, including Chairman and Chief Executive of Town Health International Medical Group, Chairman and Founder of Unique Timepieces Watches Group, which operates over 20 stores in Hong Kong and Macau, and Vice Chairman of the world’s largest toy manufacturer, Early Light International Group.
He also holds numerous public service positions, currently serving as: Deputy Director of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Court Member of the University of Hong Kong, Convener and President of the Hong Kong Coalition for Poverty Alleviation, and Founding President of the Hong Kong CPPCC Youth Association.
