The Hong Kong Monetary Authority showcased tokenisation's potential to enhance efficiency and reduce transaction costs at its first seminar earlier this week, targeting corporate treasurers and relevant stakeholders, drawing over 150 participants from about 50 corporates and 30 financial institutions.
Panellists at the event said the technology's potential is immense and welcomed efforts to promote broader market adoption, with discussion covering the Project Ensemble use cases for real-time treasury management, tokenised bond issuance and trade finance.
The HKMA said it will follow up with corporate treasury centres (CTCs) that expressed interest in tokenisation to explore future collaboration, in line with the government's Government's Action Plan to Promote the Development of CTCs in Hong Kong announced on June 9.
