Hang Seng Index drops over 250 points by midday break

Hong Kong stocks extended losses by noon on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 271 points or 1.1 percent, to 24,294 points at noon.

The Hang Seng Tech Index slipped 1.69 percent to 4,688 points.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index went down 0.58 percent to 3,986 points, and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index decreased 1.94 percent to 14,972 points at the midday close.
