Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Friday, weighed down by broad weakness in technology shares.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dropped 375 points, or 1.46 percent, to 25,460, while the Hang Seng Tech Index slid 2.21 percent to 5,451 — its lowest level since late August.
Turnover reached HK$3.5 billion.
Major tech names retreated, with Tencent (0700) down 1.77 percent, Alibaba (9988) falling 3.1 percent, Meituan (3690) slipping 1.52 percent, and Xiaomi (1810) losing 2.38 percent.
