The introduction banks from Belt and Road regions to Hong Kong can facilitate two-way investment flows, according to InvestHK.
This initiative was highlighted by the recent establishment of a representative office in Hong Kong by Cambodia's Canadia Bank.
This move followed a meeting between Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and the chairman of the parent company, the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation, during Lee's delegation visit to Cambodia last July.
InvestHK's director-general, Alpha Lau Hai-suen, explained that bringing these banks to Hong Kong serves a dual purpose. It not only helps introduce their local corporate clients to Hong Kong but also assists mainland Chinese companies in expanding into those markets.
Separately, InvestHK was recently recognized for its use of Artificial Intelligence to design innovative digital marketing campaigns that promote Hong Kong's advantages to overseas markets.
Lau said the award underscores the department's commitment to fostering innovation and leveraging AI to enhance marketing effectiveness, adding that they will continue to utilize innovative technology to cultivate a culture of advancement.
