Stocks traded in Hong Kong and mainland China turned muted as the Gold Week break is coming.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index settled at 26,596 at midday, 25.98 points or 0.1 percent lower than the previous close. The indicator once hit as high 26,833 in the morning, representing a gain of 0.8 percent.
The main board turnover amounted to HK$159 billion in the morning session.
The Hang Seng Tech Index stood at 6,358 at noon, a gain of 0.55 percent.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index grew 0.4 percent to 3,878 while the Shenzhen Component Index grew slower at 0.31 percent when standing at 13,521 at noon. The ChiNext index turned muted by edging up 0.06 percent to 3,240.
Mainland stock markets are scheduled to close during the eight-day National Day Holiday through October 8.
