Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (0388) will take its iconic listing ceremony gong on a citywide tour to mark its 25th anniversary, offering the public a rare chance to engage with a key symbol of the local financial market.
Dubbed the “Gong Tour,” the initiative will run from June 20 to July 3, with the gong displayed at nine locations across Hong Kong, including Central, West Kowloon, Quarry Bay, Sha Tin, Tseung Kwan O, Wan Chai, Kai Tak, Kwai Chung and Tsim Sha Tsui.
The HKEX was listed on 27 June, 2000.
Typically only seen inside the HKEX Hall during initial public offering debut ceremonies, the gong will be part of a mobile exhibition designed to give the public a closer look at the city’s capital markets. HKEX chief executive Bonnie Chan Yi-ting will also take part in the tour, dressed as a gong porter in a promotional appearance.

This traditional Chinese gong is struck to signal the start and end of trading days, similar to the iconic bell ringing ceremony in New York.
The exhibition will feature other artifacts, with visitors allowed to take photos with the gong used in official listing events – a privilege usually reserved for issuers, sponsors and intermediaries. More details and a full schedule are available on the event’s dedicated website.
