Hong Kong stocks ended a two-day rally and dropped 283 points on Thursday, with market sentiment dampened by plunging US stocks.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index closed 1.19 percent lower at 23,544 points, with a main board turnover of HK$198.3 billion.
The tech gauge lost 1.7 percent, closing at 5,251.
Alibaba (9988) fell 3.25 percent to HK$119.10 and Tencent (0700) edged down 0.77 percent to HK$516.50. Battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology (3750) slid 2.25 percent to HK$329.80.
Xpeng (9868) climbed against the market by 5.8 percent to HK$82.05 after reassuring net profit in 2025. Chief executive He Xiaopeng said he is confident that the company will not only achieve its goal of more than doubling its sales volume this year, but will also move toward profitability in the fourth quarter.
Chinese toy titan Pop Mart International (9992) rose 3.33 percent to HK$223.20.
Xiaomi (1810) lost 2.3 percent ahead of a pre-launch event.
In the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.22 percent at 3,380 points and the Shenzhen Component Index slid 0.72 percent to 10,219.
