The joint venture enterprise is 51 percent owned by the jeweler's subsidiary, Emperor Jewellery (China), while Chan's company, Zhangjiajie Free Trade Zone Xiaoduocai Investment Management holds the remaining 49 percent.
Chan stepped down as managing director for Mainland China and executive director at Chow Tai Fook Jewellery on March 31, 2023. He has over 40 years of management experience in the jewellery industry.
Emperor said the joint venture would combine the brand strength of “Emperor Jewellery” with Chan’s extensive expertise, enhancing the brand’s strength and influence in the mainland market.
The joint venture aims to expand the group’s retail network in the mainland this year.
Chan also said that he will fully devote to the work of the joint venture and will not invest in any businesses other than the joint venture in the same industry.
