Delay in US-China talks weighs down on HK stocks

Hong Kong stocks slightly dropped at the open as no formal discussion between Beijing and Washington has yet taken place.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 33 points lower at 20,858 points.

The Hang Seng Tech Index was down by 7 points to 5,051 points at the open.

Alibaba (9988) opened 0.6 percent lower at HK$98 apiece while Xiaomi (1810) opened 0.4 percent higher after an account of the company sparked speculations that Xiaomi would launch its artificial intelligent glasses.
