China Southern Airlines' expected loss narrows to 1.87 billion yuan last year

China Southern Airlines (1055) expects the net loss for last year to narrow to between 1.25 billion yuan (HK$1.34 billion) and 1.87 billion yuan. 

That compared to a loss of 4.21 billion yuan in 2023. 

The civil aviation industry recovered at higher speed in 2024 as the domestic economy continued to recover and the carrier actively grasped the market opportunities, the company said in a filing on Friday. 

However, due to factors including relatively slow recovery of the international market, the sharp increase in the price of aircrafts aviation materials due to the global supply chain disruptions as well as the depreciation of the yuan, the airline was still facing great operating pressure for the year, the filing said.
