Macau expects to welcome at least 38 million tourists in 2025, nearly approaching pre-pandemic levels, thanks to the easing of cross-border policies, said Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the director of the Macau Government Tourism Office, according to Radio Macau.
The eight-day Chinese New Year holiday is expected to attract an average of 185,000 daily visitors, with around 8,000 international travelers, Fernandes said.
Residents of Zhuhai, a city close to Macau, can apply for weekly travel permits to Macau starting this year.
While residents in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin can apply for permits that allow multiple trips to Macau within a year, without limits on the number of visits.
At its closest point, the cooperation zone is only 187 meters away from Macau.
