The chief executive of China Vanke (2202), Zhu Jiusheng, released a post on social media following news of him being taken away by police on Wednesday, state-backed media Shanghai Securities Journal reported.
Zhu reposted information about the company’s short-term rental services earlier this morning on his WeChat Moments, according to a screenshot.
Zhu, who joined Vanke in 2012, is also the non-executive director of E-House (China) Enterprise (2048), according to Vanke's 2023 annual report.
The news about Zhu came amid a deepening Vanke bond sell-off as worries grow about its mountain of debt coming due and a property crisis that remains entrenched despite government rescue efforts.
