The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority will play the leading role in Hong Kong’s mission to establish itself as the East-meets-West center for international cultural exchange, said Henry Tang Ying-yen, the chairman of the board of WestK authority.
Tang delivered the remarks at the gala dinner launched by the Légion d'Honneur Club Hong Kong Chapter yesterday.
The Légion d'Honneur Club aims for cross-cultural exchanges consistent with its mission of promoting French culture.
Tang - who is also the Hong Kong chapter’s president - officiated with Admiral Alain Coldefy, president of the society of members of the Légion d'Honneur Club and Christile Drulhe, the Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau.
There is significant potential for enhanced collaboration between French communities and representative bodies in Hong Kong, such as the Hong Kong Chapter of the Légion d’Honneur, to build a shared future of prosperity and unity, said Coldefy.
Over 100 representatives from the worlds of business, arts and culture, philanthropy and public service in Hong Kong and France participated at the event held at the M+ Museum of Contemporary Arts at the WestK.
The Légion d'Honneur Club Hong Kong Chapter is committed to fostering exchanges and communications between Hong Kong and the wider world to tell the good story of China and Hong Kong, Tang added.
France’s Légion d'Honneur order, established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, comprises members from the worlds of business, arts and culture, philanthropy, and public service.
