At least five die from Shanxi restaurant collapse

At least five people have been confirmed dead and more than 30 others were trapped after a restaurant in the Shanxi province collapsed. 

The two-story building in the Xiangfen county in the city of Linfen collapsed at around 9.40am, when a group of people was reportedly having a celebratory event inside the restaurant. 

Rescuers were still searching for those trapped in the debris of the collapsed building, of which one was critically injured. 

As of 12pm, more than 30 people had been rescued. 

Authorities from the mainland said there were around 37 people in the restaurant when the accident happened.
