The search for a missing hiker entered a seventh day on Tuesday, with rescuers from the Fire Services Department and the Civil Aid Service continuing their search in Sai Kung.
Rescuers yesterday found a glove near Wong Chuk Shan which was believed to belong to 57-year-old Ning Kwok-leung, who went hiking in Ma On Shan Country Park on Wednesday and went missing.
He last called his family on Saturday morning, saying he was in poor physical condition, unable to stand and suffering from dehydration.
His family lodged a report with the police late on Wednesday after not being able to get in touch with Ning since he left his home in King Fuk Street in the early hours of Wednesday.
About 1.65 meters tall and medium build, Ning has a long face with yellow complexion and short white hair, and was last seen wearing a pair of glasses, an orange vest, sports shoes and carrying a black rucksack.
Several government departments have been conducting search operations over the past days near West Buffalo Hill, but there has been no trace of him.
Members of the joint search operation continued the search effort on the mountain near Ho Chung Sai Kung this morning. Medical personnel were also on standby.
The search team appealed to hikers to pay attention to any calls for help, and make sure it is safe before providing assistance.
"Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Ning or may have seen him are urged to contact the regional missing persons unit of Kowloon East by phone or email, or contact any police station," said the police.
