Schnauzer narrowly saved from choking to death by security guard

A security guard saved a Schnauzer from being hung to death by its leash due to the owner's carelessness as he entered the lift Monday afternoon.

A man in a grey shirt was waiting for the elevator with his black Schnauzer at the Boundary Building on 196 Tung Chau Street at around 10.30 am.

He did not realize that his pet dog was playing with another resident as he entered the elevator, leading the dog to be hung by his leash as the lift headed up.

The dog's head was hit as it was dragged up, hanging by its leash for about ten seconds before the security noticed the situation and immediately stopped the lift.

The dog then escaped from the leash on its own, as it was made of relatively thin material, avoiding a tragedy.

The police were also alerted and listed the case as a miscellaneous incident that required no further investigation.

After checking by The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the dog suffered no injuries and was taken away by its owner.
