Two children of a ranking member of the Saudi Arabian consulate were sent to quarantine after they were found violating home quarantine.

The 13-year-old sister and her 11-year-old brother visited The Peak, Citygate and Ngong Ping 360 before testing positive for Covid after arriving on Tuesday.
They were original exempted from hotel quarantine due to their diplomatic immunity. Yet their positive test results triggered the Centre to initiate an investigation, revealing their whereabouts.
The Protocol Division has contacted the Saudi Arabian consulate, which promised they will fully comply with the government's anti-epidemic measures. The consulate added it has reminded relevant consuls to comply with those measures.
According to the current policy, ranking members and relevant family members of a consulate can be exempted from undergoing hotel quarantine as they arrived in Hong Kong.
Yet they still have to undergone virus tests upon arrival, they cannot leave the premises where they undergo a 21-day self-isolation and make contact with the public.
