The City University of Hong Kong squeezed into the top 50 in the world once again this year, reaching its highest status so far, according to the latest QS World University Rankings.
CityU came in at 48, the highest ranking the university has attained, and the second time the university made the top 50. Three years ago it ranked 49 And it ranked 55th and 52nd in the past two years.
The university was ranked alongside the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in the top 50.
CityU scored 74.3 overall, just behind CUHK’s 75.8. CityU’s score in “citations per faculty” was 91.2 points, which is significantly ahead of HKU and HKUST, and is just 0.9 points below CUHK.
"Citations per faculty calculates the research results of each university in the past five years and their citations, using solid data to reflect the quality of research. It shows that CityU has continued to do outstanding research, far better than some local universities with longer histories!” a CityU spokesman said.
“CityU also achieved outstanding performance in a number of different sections, including “student internationalization” and “faculty-student ratio,” scoring 99 and 88.9 points respectively, higher than the three other universities,” the spokesman added.
