Sun Hung Kai Properties' (0016) tech arm has started the construction of the second phase of its data center project in Tseung Kwan O.

As the largest data center in Hong Kong, SUNeVision's(1686) MEGA IDC project is divided into three phases with a total investment of over HK$15 billion. After construction, the total floor area reached 1,200,000 square feet with 180MW power capacity to better support the development of AI.
The commencement ceremony was co-hosted by the Deputy Financial Secretary Wong Wai-lun, the SHKP chairman and managing director Kwok Ping-luen, the SHKP executive director and non-executive director of SUNeVision Kwok Kai-wang, and the SHKP executive director of and vice chairman of SUNeVision Fung Yuk-lun.
The second phase of the project started ahead of schedule, with a plan of increasing 350,000 square feet of total floor area, expected to be completed between 2026 and 2027.
The first phase of MEGA IDC was put into use last year, providing a total gross floor area of about 500,000 sq ft and 50 MW power capacity, with many cloud service providers and international banks entering.
