US stock indexes opened higher on Monday, helped by signs the Trump administration is taking a measured approach on tariffs against its trading partners, while investors awaited economic data for clues on the health of the economy and inflation.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 194.8 points, or 0.46 percent, at the open to 42,180.14. The S&P 500 rose 50.5 points, or 0.89 percent, at the open to 5,718.08, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 262.1 points, or 1.47 percent, to 18,046.185 at the opening bell.
