HKEX launching new stock option classes

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (0388) announced the launch of six new stock option classes, which are set to take effect on March 17.

The new option classes include those under Midea (0300) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (1347), as well as those related to China Resources Power (0836), China Hongqiao (1378), Haier Smart Home (6690) and New Oriental Education & Technology (9901).

The bourse operator said its derivatives market saw its average daily volume increase by 15 percent in 2024, achieving a record of more than 1.55 million contracts.

Notably, stock options were one of the most actively traded products, with ADV hitting a record of 720,297 contracts, HKEX said.
