Hong Kong FinTech Week and the StartmeupHK Festival, the city's premier annual tech and entrepreneurship events, will be jointly held from November 3 to 7, expecting over 37,000 attendees, including chief executives of HSBC (0005) and Standard Chartered (2888).
At a press briefing on Friday, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu, announced that the 10th edition of FinTech Week will feature more than 800 speakers and 700 exhibitors from over 100 economies.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority revealed it will announce its fintech development roadmap for the next five years during the event.
Invest Hong Kong’s investment promotion director-general Alpha Lau Hai-suen highlighted that this year will welcome over 30 delegations from key global tech hubs, including mainland China, traditional markets like Western Europe and the US, and emerging markets such as the GCC, ASEAN, and Central Europe. The goal is to leverage Asia's growth potential.
The festival will focus intensely on innovation, technology, and business opportunities. The main forum on November 3-4 will host 11 thematic stages covering critical areas like financial policy, AI, Web3, digital assets, insurance tech, and wealth management.
Notably, HSBC group chief executive Georges Elhedery and Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters will be among the key speakers. They are scheduled for a keynote and panel discussion on the first morning, alongside Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.
As one of the sponsors, Citi Hong Kong maintained its strategic commitment to the fintech ecosystem, mirroring Hong Kong's role as a global connector, said Chris Long, the bank’s chief administrative officer at the press conference.
