The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation on Wednesday announced it will begin rolling out a refreshed HSBC HK App from mid-May, aiming to offer a more intuitive and personalized digital banking experience.
The HSBC HK App has continued to evolve with new features since its last major update in 2020, such as a streamlined 5-minute account opening process and a simplified lite mode for users less familiar with digital technology.
Kazimierz Kelles-Krauz, HSBC’s head of digital channels for Wealth and Personal Banking, said the bank rolled out 463 new mobile features last year, but many remain underused due to navigation challenges.
"The latest upgrade features a holistic redesign of our app’s service journey and interface, ensuring easier access to the tools customers need to get the most from mobile banking," he said.
Launched in 2010, the mobile banking app has emerged as a vital channel for customers to access HSBC's services. The app recorded a 20 percent increase in active users in 2024.
"The HSBC HK App is a key customer touch point for HSBC. We remain committed to delivering cutting-edge technology that makes banking experience seamless and secure for everyone,” said Maggie Ng Yeung Yuk-yu, head of wealth and personal banking for Hong Kong.
