Hong Kong fencer Summer Sit Fay earned a bronze medal at the 2025 FISU World University Games held in Germany.
The 19-year-old, participating in the Games for the first time, bagged a bronze in the Women's Sabre Individual event after facing South Korea's Jeon Jayoung in the semifinal, where she was defeated with a score of 12-15.
This also marked the second occasion that a Hong Kong fencer has medaled in the women’s sabre category since 2011.
In recognition of her achievement, Sit will receive HK$100,000 under the "Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme," which provides financial rewards to Hong Kong athletes who secure medals at significant sporting events.
Under the scheme, individual gold medalists receive HK$500,000, silver medalists receive HK$250,000, and bronze medalists receive HK$100,000.
Separately, the women's table tennis team -- comprised of Kong Tsz-lam, Lee Hoi-man, Ng Wing-lam and Wong Hoi-tung -- also secured a bronze medal after losing the semifinal 1-3 to Japan.
The team will be awarded HK$200,000 under HKJC's Scheme.
As of Sunday, Hong Kong ranked 12th in the overall medal tally at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, having achieved one gold medal and at least two bronze medals as Kaylin Hsieh secured gold in women’s epee at the Games last week.
