JD.com (9618) has expanded its operations in Hong Kong with a new operation center.
Its supply-chain subsidiary JD Logistics (2618) opened its fifth operation center - occupying over 10,000 square feet in Chai Wan - in a bid to meet growing demand for logistics services, according to Invest Hong Kong.
JD Logistics has four other centers in Kwun Tong, Kwai Tsing, Sha Tin and Yuen Long.
Meanwhile, JD.com is introducing a "price difference refund" policy for all JD self-operated products, ensuring compensation if customers find a lower price elsewhere. It will also launch large-scale subsidies for home appliances for the first time, offering services such as 30-day returns and 180-day replacements for defective items and free shipping on single-item purchases. The promotions run until the end of April, with possible extensions depending on market conditions.
The subsidy program is part of JD.com's previously announced 1.5 billion yuan (HK$1.61 billion) investment in Hong Kong.Earlier, JD.com's property unit bought two warehouses in Japan worth 35 billion yen (HK$1.7 billion) to help expand its logistics business there.
The warehouses are located in Chiba and Nagoya with a total gross floor area of 103,000 square meters.
