Shipments of tablet computers in China rose 4.3 percent to nearly 30 million units in 2024 over the previous year, but fourth-quarter shipments declined by 3.7 percent due to high inventory levels, according to data from IDC.

Chinese giant Huawei dominated sales with a market share of 32 percent - up 5.8 percentage points year-on-year - followed by Apple with 26.6 percent share. However, Huawei's market share in the fourth quarter fell by 3 percentage points to 27.8 percent.
IDC expects the market for tablets priced at around 3,000 yuan (HK$3,199.05) in the first half of this year to see significant growth, boosted by the trade-in scheme unveiled in late January.
Earlier, China added personal devices such as phones, tablets and smart watches into its national trade-in program that applied for home appliances and cars, offering 15 percent subsidies for products priced under 6,000 yuan.
