The Fraser Institute has released its Economic Freedom of the World: 2024 Annual Report, revealing that Hong Kong ranks as the freest economy globally among 165 jurisdictions, improving by one position from 2023. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong government said Hong Kong has effectively leveraged the advantages of a free market, maintaining an open, fair, and efficient business environment due to the unique "one country, two systems" framework.
The report highlights Hong Kong's leading performance in "Freedom to trade internationally" and "Regulation," while its ranking in "Sound money" has climbed to third place worldwide.
