The highly anticipated 2025/26 Hong Kong racing season will officially kick off on Sunday, September 7, at Sha Tin Racecourse, inviting locals and tourists to join in a day filled with thrilling races, entertainment, and prizes.
Highlights of the Opening Day
The 2025/26 Hong Kong racing season kicks off at Sha Tin Racecourse on September 7 with ten thrilling races and a full lineup of entertainment.
Spectators entering before 3.30pm will receive a complimentary 2025/26 racing calendar and can join the Opening Day Lucky Draw, featuring prizes worth over HK$880,000.
Grand prize winners will enjoy an exclusive stable tour and a HK$15,000 dining voucher from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, while other prizes include a Korean flagship foldable smartphone, a 40-cm plush of 2024/25 Hong Kong Horse of the Year Ka Ying Rising, and HK$300 dining vouchers, with a total of 1,330 prizes up for grabs.
Before the races, visitors can ring the lucky gong at the public grandstand and watch the opening ceremony and lion dance, symbolizing good fortune for the new season.
Highlights include the HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup, offering fans a chance to see champion horse Ka Ying Rising in action, as well as the Opening Day Quinella Challenge, where winners can receive collectible miniature horses.
The racecourse will also feature limited-time shopping offers and launch the new “Love Racing” merchandise series.
Pop star MC Cheung Tin-fu, currently promoting his hit album Sweet & Sour, will perform live on the big stage, adding excitement to the day.
Cheung said he is thrilled to return to Sha Tin after last year’s performance and is looking forward to ringing the lucky gong with fans to kick off another successful season.
