The city is poised to reignite its football passion following last month’s thrilling Asian Cup qualifier, where Hong Kong China triumphed over India to the delight of a record-breaking crowd. This summer, the excitement continues as the Hong Kong Football Festival 2025 takes center stage at Kai Tak Stadium.
In July, four of the world’s most renowned football clubs – Liverpool, AC Milan, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur – will descend on the city, offering fans a unique opportunity to experience top-level football, historic rivalries, and a showcase of some of the game’s most exceptional talent.
This landmark event promises to captivate both local and international audiences, cementing Hong Kong’s reputation as a premier center for global sporting events.
The festival will feature two headline matches. First, Liverpool will face AC Milan on July 26, reigniting a classic European rivalry. This match is particularly significant, as it marks nearly 20 years since their legendary Champions League final in Istanbul.
The tragic death of Liverpool star Diego Jota in a car accident this month has united fans in honoring his legacy, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his Hong Kong fans.
Just days later, on July 31, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will face off in the first-ever North London Derby to be played outside the United Kingdom.
This historic clash promises to bring the intensity, passion, and drama of one of football’s fiercest rivalries to Hong Kong.
Beyond the matches, fans can enjoy exclusive open training sessions. Liverpool (July 24), Tottenham Hotspur (July 29) and Arsenal (July 30) will hold training sessions at Kai Tak Stadium, while AC Milan will train at Hong Kong Stadium on July 25.
These sessions offer a unique insight into the teams’ preparations for the upcoming season and give fans the chance to see their football heroes up close.
With some of the world’s most talented players taking part, supporters can expect to witness thrilling precision, creativity and athleticism both in training and on match days.
The festival will showcase Hong Kong’s state-of-the-art Kai Tak Stadium, while also reinforcing its position as Asia’s hub for significant sporting and cultural events, making this a summer to remember for football fans.
