A 55-year-old female motorist was arrested in Sham Shui Po early Saturday morning after her vehicle collided with another car, with police subsequently finding her blood alcohol level to be well over the legal limit.
The traffic accident occurred shortly after 1am today along Chui Yu Road. According to police reports, two private passenger cars were traveling northbound together.
As the vehicles approached a section of the road adjacent to a local park, the trailing car, driven by the fifty-five-year-old woman, crashed into the rear of the private car traveling directly in front of her.
Police officers dispatched to the scene of the collision noted a strong smell of alcohol on the female driver during their initial inquiries.
She was ordered to undergo an alcohol breath test, which officially confirmed that her alcohol consumption exceeded the maximum legal limit. Authorities subsequently arrested her on suspicion of drunk driving, and she remains in custody for further investigation.
The second motorist involved in the collision, a 41-year-old male driver, was also tested for alcohol consumption at the scene.
His test returned a reading of zero, indicating he had not consumed any alcohol prior to the incident.
Fortunately, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported by either of the drivers or any bystanders as a result of the collision.
