The Consumer Council announced that CHOICE Magazine will publish its final print issue in October, concluding a 50-year print run as the organization shifts focus to digital information platforms.
Chief executive Alaina Shum Jiu-fai made the announcement on Monday, highlighting that the magazine’s 50th anniversary and upcoming 600th issue make this a symbolic moment for the transition.
Shum noted that CHOICE Magazine's online version, launched to the public on January 1 last year, has already garnered more than 2.25 million annual page views, indicating robust demand for digital content.
To expand digital reach, the Council will launch a mobile app by the end of the year, aiming to provide consumers with easier access to timely information and enhanced interactive features.
The Council has also updated its content release strategy this month. Press briefings in odd-numbered months will focus on test reports and product testing, while even-numbered months will feature two 'Case in Point' complaint articles.
All other supplementary content will be released online on a weekly basis. Shum emphasized that the total number of articles published will remain unchanged.
