The number of Mainland higher education institutions participating in the Scheme for Admission of Hong Kong Students to Mainland Higher Education Institutions will increase to 165 for the 2026/27 academic year.
According to an Education Bureau spokesman, these institutions admit students based on their HKDSE results, exempting them from the Joint Entrance Examination for Mainland Institutions.
The number of participating institutions increased significantly by 20 compared to last year, with institutions from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region joining for the first time.
The participating institutions offer a wide range of programs, and the government encourages Hong Kong students to pursue further studies on the mainland to better understand the country's latest developments and plan for their futures.
Meanwhile, the scheme also includes a School Principal Nomination Scheme, through which each secondary school can nominate up to eight students.
The minimum entrance requirement is an "Attained" grade in Citizenship and Social Development and a total score of 8 or more in the three HKDSE core subjects, with none of those subject scores below 2.
