Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu announced that he and his team will wear a bridge-themed tie and scarf during the Policy Address on Wednesday (Sep 17) -- symbolizing the city's crucial role as a "super connector" and a "super value-adder".
In a social media post featuring a clip combined with AI-generated content, Lee showcased ties designed by local institutions over the past two years, with this year's design preserving its signature green color.
Created by a team from the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, the design highlights three major bridges: the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), the Tsing Ma Bridge and the Ting Kau Bridge.
The HZMB symbolizes the close ties within the Greater Bay Area, whereas the Tsing Ma Bridge -- which connects to Hong Kong International Airport -- represents the city's global connectedness.
The Ting Kau Bridge signifies harmonious development and integration in the north-western part of the New Territories with the Lantau Link.
Highlighting the city's top-notch infrastructure and a comprehensive transport network, Lee stated that these bridges not only showcase Hong Kong's vibrancy but also showcase its unique advantages in connecting with the mainland.
He reaffirmed Hong Kong's commitment to serving as a "super connector" and "super value-adder," facilitating access to both mainland and international markets while acting as a springboard for enterprises looking to expand globally.
