At approximately 7.29am, police were alerted to an incident outside a shop on Pei Ho Street, where a man was reportedly wielding a knife and chasing a woman. The assailant fled the scene towards the nearby Pei Ho Street Market following the attack.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim with hand injuries and an elderly woman who reported discomfort after allegedly having her hair pulled by the suspect. Both were brought to a hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities searched the market and apprehended the suspect on the first floor. During the arrest, the man reported feeling unwell and was escorted by police to the hospital for examination.
Officers recovered blood-stained towels, a face mask, and a sharp knife concealed inside a Styrofoam box at a market stall, believed to be the weapon used in the assault.
Preliminary reports indicate that the detained individual is a 20-year-old Indonesian national holding a recognizance form, which permits temporary stay in Hong Kong pending immigration proceedings.
The case has been classified as an assault, and police are conducting further investigations to determine the motive behind the attack.
