This move is seen by mainland media as an attempt to increase brand exposure, possibly in line with JD.com's recent business promotion strategy.
The first episode was held at Lau's home. Lau revealed that her residence was designed and decorated with the help of the late businessman David Tang Wing-cheung, and is filled with exclusive memories of friends such as Leslie Cheung.
In the podcast, Zhang mentioned that she enjoys chatting with entrepreneurs to learn about the latest technological developments and changes in business models.
The podcast is also operating on RedNote, where Zhang currently has 170,000 followers.
Mainland media analysts believe that Zhang and Liu seem to be increasing JD.com's exposure through various means. With Zhang’s current image as a young, fashionable, and independent female, she is expected to serve as a channel for JD.com to engage with young, affluent women.
Zhang has rarely appeared on social media platforms since ceasing updates on Weibo in 2018, according to mainland media.
