Telecommunications firm China Unicom (0762) reported a 5 percent growth in its first-half net profit to 14.48 billion yuan (HK$15.81 billion), driven by record growth in mobile and broadband subscribers.
Its board declared an interim dividend of 0.2841 yuan per share, up 14.5 percent year-on-year.
The company's revenue increased by 1.5 percent to 200.2 billion yuan during the period, with service revenue rising by over 1.5 percent to 178.4 billion yuan.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization stood at 54.24 billion yuan.
In the first six months, the total number of its connectivity subscribers exceeded 1.2 billion. Among these, mobile and broadband subscribers net increased by over 11 million – a new high for the same period in recent years – adding to a total of 480 million.
By the end of June, the firm’s aggregate number of 5G network subscribers soared above 213.5 million.
China Unicom said it will continue to enhance its management, operation, and service levels, with expected capital expenditures of around 55 billion yuan.
