Chinese officials are preparing to allow select commercial uses of H200 artificial intelligence chips, while banning the military, sensitive government agencies, and critical infrastructure from using them, citing security concerns, the report said.
The move is similar to the previous measures targeted at foreign electric products like Apple. If these institutions do have usage requirements, they must apply individually, with approval decided on a case-by-case basis.
ByteDance and Alibaba (9988) have asked Nvidia and intend to order over 200,000 H200 chips, respectively.
