Two drivers were injured early Tuesday morning on Kam Tin Road after a private car swerved to avoid a cat and struck a Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) double-decker.
The incident occurred around 5.47am on Kam Tin Road, when a private car headed towards Yuen Long collided with a KMB bus on route 251B, which was traveling in the opposite lane near Wang Toi Shan Tsoi Yuen Tsuen (North).
The 42-year-old private car driver, surnamed Yiu, reportedly steered to avoid a stray cat darting across the road.
Emergency services arrived at the scene to find both drivers injured. Yiu reported general body pain, while the bus driver, a 51-year-old man surnamed Lee, suffered chest pain and finger injuries. Both were transported to Pok Oi Hospital for treatment.
Photographs from the scene show the private car heavily damaged, with its license plate torn off and debris scattered across the road.
Meanwhile, the bus's front windshield was shattered, and its right side was dented.
The investigation is ongoing.
