(Video) Motorcyclist injured in crash on Castle Peak Road in Kwai Chung

A motorcyclist was injured after his bike skidded and overturned on Castle Peak Road in Kwai Chung on Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at around 7.05pm as the motorcycle was traveling toward Tsuen Wan along the Kwai Chung section of Castle Peak Road. Near Lai Yiu Estate, the rider reportedly lost control, causing the bike to overturn.

Footage from a vehicle dashcam showed the motorcycle riding at high speed before suddenly tilting to the right and flipping over. The rider tumbled half a turn on the road surface before sliding face-down across the tarmac for a distance, coming to rest in the middle of the traffic lane.

The trailing vehicle braked in time and activated hazard lights to alert other drivers, preventing further collisions.

The motorcycle continued to spin and slide for several dozen meters before finally stopping.

The rider, who sustained abrasions on all four limbs, remained conscious and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment. Preliminary information suggested the rider may have braked suddenly, causing the loss of control. Police are investigating.
