The Independent Commission Against Corruption on Sunday obtained a warrant issued by a Magistrate to arrest a 24-year-old man suspected of posting messages on social media during the Legislative Council General Election period, inciting others not to vote.
Wong Ho-tin, faces one charge under Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (ECICO), which alleges that he left a comment on a social media platform on Saturday, to incite others not to vote at the Legislative Council election.
The ICAC’s wanted notice online stated that Wong had left Hong Kong in July 2025, and therefore the Magistrates’ Courts issued a warrant for his arrest.
It had already arrested 11 individuals in total for allegedly contravening 27A of the ECICO in relation to the Legislative Council General Election, including four who were arrested earlier today. Among them, three were prosecuted.
The ICAC reiterated that publicly inciting others not to vote or to cast invalid ballots during an election period is illegal.
It will also not tolerate any acts that undermine or disrupt elections, and will enforce the law firmly to safeguard election security and ensure elections are fair, open, and honest.
