Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is one of the most common skin diseases in Hong Kong, affecting 1 in every 5 people in the city. For a long time, hundreds of thousands of patients have been trapped in a vicious cycle of "recurrent inflammation, intense itching, and medication dependence," severely impacting sleep and mental health. After more than 10 years of in-depth research, the team from the Department of Microbiology at the University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine has discovered that the recurrence of eczema is related to the overgrowth of Staphylococcus aureusand the "virulence factors" and toxins it releases .
The team has translated this basic research into an applied solution, developing a plant-based composite formula named "Anesinin" . The breakthrough of this technology lies not in blindly killing bacteria, but in precisely inhibiting the virulence factors of S. aureus, blocking its ability to cause itching, inflammation, and damage to the skin barrier at the source. The products are now available on the market . Dr. Richard Kao Yi-Tsun, Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology at HKU, shared a case of a severe patient with a 20-year history whose hands transformed from "rotten skin" to "girl's hands" after trying the product, no longer needing to rely on steroids and biologics, and regaining self-confidence.
However, since the product launched in mid-February, some netizens have reported difficulty purchasing it, with "all stores saying it's out of stock." Sing Tao Headline inquired with the authorized retail chain Watsons, which responded that the product has been well-received since its launch. Watsons is currently arranging replenishment, and the new batch of products will be given priority for sale on the Watsons online store. Each MoneyBack member is limited to purchasing 1 bottle per month to allow more customers to buy the product .
