Chinese regulators on Wednesday raised the overseas lending leverage ratio for foreign banks in China and their joint venture banks with Chinese lenders, allowing them to extend more overseas loans.
The ratio was raised to 1.5 from 0.5, according to a joint statement from the central bank and foreign exchange regulator.
Separately, the overseas lending leverage ratio for policy lender the Export-Import Bank of China has been raised to 3.5 from 3, the statement said.
