Egypt's first semi-automated container terminal at Sokhna Port has been inaugurated

Red Sea Container Terminals on Friday announced the official opening of Egypt's first semi-automated container terminal at Sokhna Port on the Gulf of Suez, marking a significant step to advance Egypt's trade connectivity and port innovation.

Developed by a consortium of Hutchison Ports, CMA Terminals, and COSCO SHIPPING Ports (1199), RSCT also got a 30-year concession agreement with the Egyptian government for the new terminal.

"With an investment exceeding US$1.8 billion (HK$14 billion) in the country, we recognize Egypt as a pivotal market at the intersection of key global trade routes,” said Clemence Cheng, managing director for Europe at Hutchison Ports.

He added that the collaboration underscored the shared vision for innovation, sustainability, and excellence in logistics.
