Hong Kong stocks extend losses by midday as cautious sentiment weighs

Hong Kong shares deepened losses by midday on Tuesday as investor sentiment remained cautious.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index was down 490 points, or 1.91 percent, at 25,138 at the noon break, while turnover stood at HK$107.1 billion. The Hang Seng Tech Index fell 2.41 percent to 5,366.

In the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index slid 1.22 percent to 3,820, while the Shenzhen Component Index dropped 1.88 percent to 12,866.
