Since becoming MPFA chair in 2021, Lau has led the development and launch of eMPF, a digital platform that allows contributors to integrate their accounts while enhancing the Mandatory Provident Fund System's operational efficiency and reducing administration fees.
Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu said he expects MPFA to continue to improve the pension fund system under Lau’s leadership.
The government also added Chau Siu-chung and Wingco Lo Kam-wing to MPFA’s NED team.
Chau, a Hong Kong labor union worker and politician, is currently a member of the Legislative Council for the Labour constituency. Lo is the 43rd president of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, taking office in 2024.
They will be occupying spots vacated by outgoing NEDs Lam Chun-sing and Karson Choi Ka-tsan.
The above appointments will take effect on March 17. Their terms will run until March 16, 2027.
